Nissan NISMO 370Z priced from $39,130

Nissan says that its upcoming NISMO 370Z - the sportiest Z on offer - will list from $39,130 when it goes on sale shortly. It will offer just a trio of options, ranging from special floor mats ($115), a trunk mat ($95) and illuminated kick plates ($200) in addition to its race-inspired interior and exterior, specially tuned suspension, lightweight alloy wheels and, of course, an extra 18-horsepower.

The NISMO 370Z was developed by Nissan’s Specialty Vehicles Group in conjunction with tuning partner Autech Japan.

The all-new NISMO 370Z is offered in one completely equipped model with a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission only. Power comes from a tuned version of the company’s 3.7-liter motor, offering 350 horsepower at 7,400 rpm — an increase of 18 hp over the standard model. Peak torque is 276 pound-feet at 5,200 rpm — 6 lb-ft. more than the regular 370Z.

“The NISMO name is known throughout the world as the leading supplier of race-bred, factory-tuned, extreme performance Nissan parts, accessories and vehicles,” said Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America. “The new, second-generation NISMO Z proudly – and deservedly – wears the NISMO badge, carrying on the tradition of bringing racing- inspired performance and engineering to the street.”

The six-speed manual features Nissan’s new “SynchroRev Match” function, the world’s first synchronized downshift rev matching manual transmission system. The “SynchroRev Match” function automatically controls and adjusts engine speed when shifting to the speed of the next gear position, essentially “blipping” the throttle to smooth out any up/down shifts.

Nissan tuned the Nismo’s suspension for a firmer ride and sharper handling. Compared to a standard 370Z Coupe, front spring rates have been dialed up 15 percent, rear spring rates 10 percent, front stabilizer bar rate upped 15 percent, and the rear stabilizer bar is 50 percent stiffer. The roll stiffness rate has been increased by 15 percent and front and rear damping factors have been increased by 40 percent and 140 percent, respectively.

The NISMO 370Z rides on unique 5-spoke Nissan-branded 19-inch RAYS forged aluminum-alloy wheels (19×9.5-inch front, 19×10.5-inch rear) mounted with Yokohama ADVAN Sport Y-rated high-performance tires (P245/40ZR19 front, P285/35ZR19 rear). Bringing the NISMO 370Z to a stop are standard NISMO Sport Brakes with large diameter 14.0-inch front and 13.8-inch rear vented rotors with 4-piston front and 2- piston rear aluminum calipers.

“One look at the dramatic NISMO 370Z body and you know that this isn’t your everyday sports car,” said Castignetti. “The styling is highly emotional yet totally functional – expressing dynamic movement while enhancing airflow and downforce for enhanced aerodynamic performance.”
