Future/Concept Vehicles | Lexus RX350 & RX450h

It's a belief that guided us in creating two revolutionary new vehicles: the 2010 RX and RX Hybrid. Toyota Auris Hybrid Car Concept

Toyota is set to debut the Auris HSD Full Hybrid Concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show in two weeks. The hybrid concept represents Toyota's first deployment of their full hybrid technology in a mainstream high volume model. Full hybrid technology is decribed as an engine that can run on only the combustion engine, only the electric motor/batteries, or a combination of both. Toyota states that this is first step in rolling out Hybrid Synergy Drive (HSD) across the company's model range. More details to be released at the Frankfurt unveiling.

Also joining the Auris concept are the Prius Plug-in Hybrid Concept, all-new Land Cruiser European premiere, iQ for Sports and iQ Collection. The Land Cruiser goes on sale in the 4th quarter of 2009 while the iQ cars demonstrate personalization possibilities.

Peugeot RCZ & Hybrid4 Headed to Frankfurt

The midsize Peugeot 308 is one of the most flexible vehicles in the French automaker’s lineup, spawning numerous variants including three and five-door hatchbacks, a wagon, as well as a stylish hard-top convertible. However, there is at least one more 308 variant on its way and it’s destined to be the most exciting of them all.

The car, revealed ahead of its official world debut at next month’s Frankfurt Auto Show, is the production version of 2007’s 308 RC Z concept, a sporty coupe with similar proportions to the original Audi TT and a punchy range of four-cylinder engines.

Three engines will be available at launch. A 1.6-litre gasoline turbo unit making 156 horsepower, followed by a 2.0-liter turbodiesel rated at 163 horsepower and another 1.6-liter gasoline turbo with an even 200 horsepower. Both a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic will be offered.

Production of the RCZ will be handled by independent vehicle manufacturer Magna Steyr in Austria and first sales are scheduled to kick off in Europe next spring.

Also on show at the upcoming Frankfurt event will be the RCZ HYbrid4 concept vehicle. The concept is essentially the new RCZ sports coupe fitted with Peugeot’s HYbrid4 gasoline-electric hybrid system. The innovative drivetrain uses an electric motor to drive one axle and an internal combustion engine to drive the other, in effect forming an AWD system. While there are no plans to build a production version of the RCZ HYbrid4 anytime soon, a diesel-electric version will appear in the 3008 crossover sometime in 2011.

BMW explains how Active Hybrid X6 works

The intellectual elite from Bavaria has a very useful video that shows how exactly the hybrid system of the Active Hybrid X6 works.

And before you watch the video I wanted to just quickly repeat the most important specs. A big 4.4 liter V8 with twin turbo's, together with 2 elektomotoren a collection capacity of 485 hp and 780 Nm. This hybrid X6 sprint in 5.6 seconds to 100 km/h and the top speed lies at 236 km/h. The average consumption is 9.9 liters per 100 km and the average CO2 emissions 231 g/km.
