New 2010 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG Overview
Mercedes-Benz used its press conference at the New York Auto Show today to reveal a number of new vehicles, including the 2010 E63 AMG Sedan. The German hotrod is powered by Mercedes’ familiar 6.2L V8, generating 518 horsepower – a gain of 9 horsepower over the previous car — and 485 pound-feet of torque. That should be enough to get the E63 AMG from zero to 60 in 4.5 seconds, on its way to an electronically limited 155 mph.
Although the 2010 E63 AMG model sees a modest bump in power compared to the outgoing car, it is said improve fuel economy by about 12 percent. Most of that gain can be attributed to the car’s new seven-speed gearbox. The new transmission also features four driving modes: Controlled Efficiency, Sport, Sport Plus and Manual.
To distinguish the AMG model from lesser E-Class sedans, the E63 will sport AMG-specific 18-inch wheels (19s are optional) as well as unique front and rear fascia and AMG’s signature quad-exhaust treatment.
The Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG will likely bow at the 2009 New York Auto Show, with UK sales sets to kick off in September.
